Telemedicine Practice Guidelines

Compliant with MCI Telemedicine Guidelines

Docreach operates in accordance with the "Telemedicine Practice Guidelines" issued by the Board of Governors in supersession of the Medical Council of India on March 25, 2020. Key compliance areas include:

Doctor Verification

Every healthcare provider on the Docreach platform undergoes a rigorous verification process:

  • Identity verification through government-issued ID
  • Regular re-verification of license status

Data Protection

Information Technology Act, 2000 Compliance

We comply with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, including:

  • Implementation of reasonable security practices
  • Protection of sensitive personal data
  • Proper consent mechanisms for data collection
  • Data localization — all health data stored in India

Prescription Compliance

Prescriptions issued through Docreach comply with the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines:

  • All prescriptions include the doctor's name, registration number, and contact information
  • Prescriptions follow the specified format in the guidelines
  • Controlled substances are not prescribed via telemedicine (as per guidelines)
  • Doctors recommend in-person visits when physical examination is necessary

AI Transparency

Our use of AI in the healthcare process is transparent and compliant:

  • Patients are informed that an AI assistant collects their initial symptoms
  • AI does not make diagnoses or prescribe medications
  • All AI-generated summaries are reviewed by licensed doctors
  • Doctors have full discretion to override or modify AI suggestions
  • Complete audit trail of all AI interactions is maintained

Emergency Protocols

Docreach has clear protocols for handling emergencies:

  • The AI assistant is trained to identify potential emergency symptoms
  • Patients showing emergency signs are immediately advised to seek in-person care
  • Emergency contact information is displayed prominently
  • Doctors can escalate cases that require immediate attention

Record Keeping

We maintain comprehensive records as required by law:

  • Complete consultation records including symptoms, diagnosis, and prescriptions

Records are retained for the period required by applicable healthcare regulations in India.
